Mwikali and her family live in Mithanga community in the Eastern region of Kenya. Farming is their livelihood, but with two rainy seasons, drought and floods, it is a struggle to survive. They get water from unsafe sources such as a river or existing traditional wells.
Mwikals father works as a laborer at neighbors farms whereas, her mother is a Bible school students following a call to be a preacher. Mwikali favorite subjects are biology and chemistry which are of great importance towards her dreams to become a nurse.
